Nestled directly below the ancient Etruscan town of Cortona, among olive groves, vineyards and pine trees, lies the old Tuscan farmhouse of Casale Fontocchio. Although completely restored, the farmhouse has retained its old Tuscan charm, with its massive wooden beams, bare stone walls and terracotta floors. From the main entrance way, passing under the large, imposing gateway, the house opens directly into the main living room, where the original old brick fireplace, paintings and furniture typical to the region lend their charm and elegance. The kitchen dining room still has the original large wooden dining table, where guests can come together to savour the atmosphere.
The main house has 5 beautiful, tastefully furnished bedrooms, while there are three further bedrooms in a separate annex. A four-poster and wrought iron beds give character to the elegant furnishings. 5 bedrooms has its own private bathroom.
In the large garden, there is an enormous swimming pool, for exclusive use by guests, with garden furniture and lying-out chairs. From here, guests can relax in the peace and calm, enjoy the sumptuous views of Cortona and take in the sights and sounds of the typical Tuscan countryside. A walk through the olive groves, past chapels and churches, enjoying the narrow medieval streets of Cortona, together with the comfort and surroundings of the house, makes Casale Fontocchio a very special place to stay.
